Adhesion receptors

Receptors (which may have other functions) by which bacteria adhere to epithelial cells in the gastrointestinal tract. Adhesion is mediated by a specific lectin on either the receptor or the bacterium. (SB) See also: Chemical probiosis; Gastrointestinal microflora; Probiotics
