The adrenal gland is located above the anterior portion of the kidney. It is made up of two distinct anatomical nd functional parts, the cortex and medulla. The cortex secretes three types of hormones: glucocorticoids, ineralocorticoids and androgens. The medulla produces and releases the catecholamine hormones, dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine.
