No matter how much information scientists gather concerning the causes and symptoms of various diseases, all diseases are not curable. Some people become physically disabled because of an incurable disease or due to accidents. In addition, there are some incurable congential problems, such as Down syndrome, that cause physical disabilities in patients. Many disabled people cannot walk at all or can move with great difficulty, and others are blind and deaf. Therefore, they have to be provided with special aids and facilities that can enable them to live and work freely in society. Wheelchair ramps for boarding trains and the braille script for reading are some such aids.
