Since when did human beings start flying?

The dream of flying is as old as mankind. Otto Lilienthal, a German engineer, is created for making this dream a reality. Between 1891 and 1893, he succeeded in gliding over a distance of 250 m with a self-made flying device. The age of motorized flight started around the beginning of the 20th century. Within a span of a few decades, a series of technical achievements led to rapid advancement in the field of aviation; the versatile helicopter and the jet plane, which is indispensable today as a means of transportation, were soon introduced. Every day, around 1000 planes take flight from airports all around the world. It is a wonder that they do not collide in mid-air!
