Since when do we have jet planes?

The first jet plane of the world ascended in the air in August 1939. This was German He 178, named after its inventor Ernst Heinkel. The mechanism of jet flight was developed by the physicist Hans von Ohain and the engineer Sir Frank Whittle. The driving mechanism of this type of airplane are designed to suck in air. This air is made to combine with the fuel kerosene, compressed, and then ignited. Jets of combustion gases shoot backwards, thus thrusting the engine and the aircraft forwards. Jet planes are, much faster than propeller-powered airplanes.
