Who invented the car?

Karl Friedrich Benz, a German engineer, designed and built the world's first automobile or car. In 1885, he integrated a combustion engine and an electrical ignition in a three-wheeled carriage, which moved (Latin, 'mobilis') all by itself (Latin, 'auto'). A four-wheeled automobile was developed later by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. Around 1900, the serial production of cars started. The car factory established by American industrialist Henry Ford started what is known as the assembly production of cars-a faster and more economical method by which the car became more affordable to people.
