Was only incense transported through the incense route?

Apart from incense, spices and precious stones from India and southeast Asia were also traded on this route. The starting point of the incense route since the 10th century BC was Dhofar in the Arabian country of Oman. The bark of the incense trees that grew here was tapped and resin was collected. Camels transported the dried resin through the desert. The trading of incense boomed in 5th century BC, when it was used in the temples and churches of Egypt and Rome.
