What does a veterinary doctor do?

There are a few veterinary doctors who have their won private clinics, where they treat small pets such as cats, dogs, or parrots Many work in farming areas, keeping cows, pigs, and goats healthy. They are also often called when a cow calves. If the calf lies obliquely in the uterus, the veterinary doctor often helps in the delivery by putting his hand in the birth canal and moving the calf into the right position. Many veterinary doctors are also engaged in monitoring various kinds of epidemics. They prevent the spread of animal-borne diseases, such as swine fever or bird flu, and thus reduce the health threat to human beings. Some veterinary doctors work in slaughter houses and check to see if the animals to be slaughtered are really healthy.
