Do all great apes live in the rainforest?

All great apes threatened with extinction live in the wet forests of the tropics or in its bordering areas. The western gorillas live in the dense forests of the Central African countries; their relatives, the mountain gorillas, live only in a small, volcanic mountain region at the borders of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The chimpanzees and bonobos also live in Africa. Oragutans are found outside of Africa, and live in the Asian islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Strictly speaking, the human is also one of the great apes and we have inhabited the whole earth.
