Although we do not know for sure whether there are any other civilizations out there, there are projects that are looking for signs of life in the universe. In these projects, we capture radio waves and examine them for unusual signals. In 1974, we sent out a radio message in space with the radio telescope in Arecibo. It contained information about numbers, humans, and the planet Earth. In addition, probes such as Pioneer and Voyager are carrying pictures and sounds of the Earth. So far, we have not had any success with this search.
