What does a biochemist do?

Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes in living organisms and biochemists try to understand these processes. A biochemist studies the characteristics of organisms and biological processes. This knowledge is needed in the development of medicines. Biochemists have discovered the poison-arrow frogs do not produce their poison themselves. Rather, the frogs eat less poisonous insects that help them develop a highly toxic mixture, which can cause fatal respiratory paralysis.
